Please follow the below STEPS ONE TO SIX carefully to ensure you have a completed Application when you drop off your package in person at Archbishop MacDonald School. Incomplete Applications will not be accepted.

Application Drop off dates:

March 3rd: 9:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

March 4th: 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

March 5th: 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

March 6th: 9:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

**When applying from outside of Edmonton Catholic Schools, please DO NOT register with ECSD until you have received your acceptance email from the school.

 

STEP ONE:

You must meet the following Entrance Requirements: As a school of choice in Edmonton, Archbishop MacDonald High School has a specific and unique admissions procedure.

Students must have a Minimum Grade of 75% in each of the following Grade 9 subjects:

  • Religious Studies (Unless applying from a public school)
  • English Language Arts
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Studies

* Marks in these subjects are NOT averaged but a per course minimum of 75%

(We reserve the right to request a principal reference from your last attended ESCD school)

 

STEP TWO:

Proof of current grades dated within one week prior to application drop-off AND a copy of most recent report card:

  • Dated print out of current grades is in a percentage and meets the minimum MAC requirements.
  •  Applicants must maintain acceptance requirements or higher on their final progress report in June (we reserve the right to decline a student if marks drop below the entrance requirements).
  • Students also need to be aware that if they do not maintain a minimum requirement of 65% in all core subjects during their grade 10 year, they will be asked to transfer to another school that can better suit their educational programming needs for their grade 11 year.
  • If your school does not use percentage grades, please also complete the following Form For Schools That Use Letter Grades 

 

STEP THREE:

Complete the Application Form:

The following application form (pick Application Form, Planning for Full IB Application Form, or French Immersion Application Form) includes the main documents you need to complete to be prepared for your application drop off.

After you fill out your form, please PRINT it, SIGN all the documents, and bring them as part of your application package when you drop off at Archbishop MacDonald School.

STEP FOUR:

Required Official Documents - Photocopies of the following Official Documentation:

  • Catholic Baptismal Certificate (If Baptized Catholic)
  • Proof of Address in Edmonton
  • Proof you are legally in Canada (You only NEED ONE of the following documents)

                                            Canadian Birth Certificate [Best Option]

                                            Canadian Permanent Residence

                                            Canadian Immigration Document

STEP SIX:

For students applying outside of Edmonton Catholic School District, please wait for the confirmation email of acceptance to Archbishop MacDonald High School BEFORE completing the Division Registration form for 2025 – 2026.

Edmonton Catholic Students will need to fill out the Archbishop MacDonald Application form, on the HOW TO APPLY PAGE on our website, but NOT the Division Registration form. You will be asked to complete the Pre-enrolment page in PowerSchool, and choose Archbishop MacDonald (the Pre-enrolment page will be made available in PowerSchool in February of 2025)

Please note: You are only able to apply for 1 high school for the same school year. Your application may be removed if you have applied at another school in Edmonton.

The following documents are available for review before completing the Student Course Selection on your Application Form. A reminder when choosing courses, ALL CORE SUBJECTS (this includes CALM and Physical Education) MUST BE TAKEN FOR THE FIRST TIME AT MAC. Please do not sign up for summer school if you are accepted to MAC:
