MAC Students, staff and Alumni have done it again. This year we have donated a total of 98 pints of whole blood to Canadian Blood Services, this includes 47 donations from our present student body and staff and 26 of these were new donors. Way to go MAC. Canadian Blood Services appreciates your involvement and hopes you will continue to donate and encourage friends and family too. In case you missed it they also have a scholarship and bursary monies. Here is a message from Canadian blood services.
Exciting news for any individuals in your life that are attending post-secondary! We have a new program at Canadian Blood Services! It’s called Assignment Saving Lives Scholarship Program. This program engages post-secondary students and gives them a chance to win prize money to go towards their education by recruiting whole blood/plasma/platelet donors to their ASL PFL team. This scholarship is open to any person attending a post-secondary program in 2024-2025. https://www.blood.ca/en/assignmentsavinglives.
The Assignment Saving Lives program offers students the opportunity to win bursaries up to $6,500 to be applied towards post-secondary tuition fees for those who are enrolled no later than end of February 2025. Participants who are successful in recruiting 10 or more blood donors (whole blood/ platelet/plasma) or stem cell registrants are eligible for a chance to win these scholarships. Through this program, participants will also be supporting local hospital patients while strengthening their leadership, project management, and communication skills.
Registration is underway and is open until July 31, 2024, the program runs from June 24th– September 7, 2024.
I look forward to seeing some submissions and winners from Edmonton!
